Rodeo activists?

Stop noting me with your rodeo activism campaigns. Do you honestly think that that sort of "abuse" only happens in the rodeo world? Truth be told, Rodeo cruelty is mild compared to most sports. I've seen jumpers ram their horses through fences, I've seen western pleasure riders harness their horses' necks so that it hurts to do anything but the "QH Headset", I've seen Saddlebreds' hooves chained and their tails broken, I've seen Tennessee Walkers' tendons sliced so they appeared relaxed, I've seen hundreds of Kentucky bred surrogate foals sent to slaughter for just being born, I’ve seen something in EVERY sport! It’s a fact of life. I hate to be the barer of bad news, but horses are beaten in every single horse sport! I've seen people lay into Vaulting horses! Humans want to win and if they find a short cut, they’ll take it. Really, there’s nothing we can do about it. Don’t get me involved, because there’s nothing I can do. Go to the organizations, they don’t care. So long as people are still paying, they’re happy. Life is hard and cruel for everyone and everything. It’s not right, but all we can really do is make sure that the horses we do have around us are safe and loved.

well said.
ever since eight belles died they've been going crazy over horse racing. it's like take a look around! there's something bad in all sports and worse things! like horse slaughter and animal abuse
spend more of your time stopping those things!
naw, i only protest the cheyyenne rodeo because they tazor the horses, beat them, and so on and so forth. other rodeos don't bother me as much.
but i'm more of an activist on dog fighting, ya know?

well said! just because you're associated with a sport that has a bad reputation for abusing horses (or any other animal) doesn't mean you're like them. it goes on everywhere, focus on stopping the people who actually are hurting the animals, not the ones who are just barely associated.

ugh, i don't understand how people can do things like that though! sending foals to slaughter, forcing horses over fences that are too high... it's just cruel. i mean, i feel guilty whenever i do something that hurts my horse, even a little, like if i'm doing a jump and i'm a bit behind and jab him in the mouth by accident, even if it was his fault because he did something weird that i wasn't expecting, i still feel guilty. or when he was trying to kick the other horses during lessons and i had to use my crop and make him run around in a circle for a long time, i know it was necessary because it's dangerous to have him kicking the other horses, especially during lessons when he might kick the rider instead and it's right at the level where he could break someone's knee cap, but i still didn't feel good about it. i just don't understand how people can be so cruel to other living things and not feel any guilt. it's disgusting what some humans are capable of doing for the sake of money.

it entertains me that these people who bitch about horse cruelty AREN'T vegetarian. and they'll sit there and whine about a horse being kicked while eating a big mac. tisk tisk.

well said :D

Thank you! You said that extremely well! Abuse happens in all the sports and with all animals. It's our own selfishness that wants to win that brings out the "do whatever it takes" attitude that leads to abuse.

I don't think you have to be a vegetarian to feel bad for an animal that's getting abused for someone else's entertainment.

That's the sad truth.
Wouldn't the world be so much better if humans weren't so damn ignorant and selfish?
